Hear Tori Kelly’s Heartbreaking New Song For Christina Grimmie

‘This is really just me grieving. At all of it. Life is so short.’

Tori Kelly’s new song was inspired by Christina Grimmie, but she’s been using it to cope with the pain of all those whose lives were cut short too early.

Sunday (July 10) on YouTube, Kelly shared “Blink of an Eye,” which she’s dedicated to Grimmie after the young singer was killed by a gunman at a meet and greet in Orlando. She cowrote the song with Zac Poor.

“Couldn’t think who you would be / If you just had the chance to turn 23,” Kelly sings. “I’m down here learning how to say goodbye / In the blink of an eye."

In the YouTube description for the song, Kelly noted that the song has helped her mourn the many recent deaths that have dominated the news lately. “Even though this song had specific meaning, more recently I'm overwhelmed at the pain and the brokenness in the world today,” she wrote. “This is really just me grieving. At all of it. Life is so short."
