Beyoncé Rallies Fans, Calls On Police To ‘Stop Killing Us’

‘Fear is not an excuse. Hate will not win.’

In the hours since Alton Sterling and Philando Castile were gunned down by policemen, citizens, politicians, and celebrities have been sharing their outrage. Now Beyoncé is adding her voice to the many others that are calling for change, for action, for something.

"We are sick and tired of the killings of young men and women in our communities," the Lemonade singer wrote in a passionate letter on her website Thursday afternoon. “It is up to us to take a stand and demand that they ‘stop killing us.’”

She also posted a simple but powerful Instagram message to her fans. The caption, a rare occurrence on Bey's social media, reads, "Turn our anger into action."

"[We're going to] fight against anyone who believes that murder or any violent action by those who are sworn to protect us should consistently go unpunished," she continued. "This is not a plea to all police officers but toward any human being who fails to value life. The war on people of color and all minorities needs to be over."

The note ends with a call to action, rallying readers to contact their local politicians and legislators to end "this plague of injustice." Read her full letter here.

Beyoncé signed off with one final, powerful statement: "Your voice will be heard."
