After 40 Years, Women Are Finally The Face Of 'Star Wars' In Epic New Poster

Rey and Jyn Erso might make you forget about Luke Skywalker

Heroes, villains, and AT-ACTs collide in the official key art for Star Wars Celebration Europe -- and we're getting all teary-eyed just looking at it.

Star Wars Celebration Key Art

Around this time last year we had yet to meet Rey (Daisy Ridley), the hero at the heart of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and we already can't imagine our lives without her. The lightsaber-swinging, Force-sensitive badass from Jakku became an inspiration for young girls and women everywhere. And they'll have yet another character to emulate upon the December release of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

Joining Rey front and center in the gorgeous key art is Star Wars's newest heroine, Jyn Erso (Felicity Jones). Seeing Rey and Jyn together on one epic poster is a momentous occasion. After nearly 40 years, women are finally the face of this franchise -- and that's pretty fucking cool.

Also cool? The first look at the new (well, technically, old) class of AT-ATs, the AT-ACT, which stands for All Terrain Armored Cargo Transport. We also get a glimpse of the Death Troopers -- the guys in the black Stormtrooper armor -- and honestly, we have no idea why the Galactic Empire disbanded them because they look sexy AF.

This is also Luke Skywalker's first appearance on the promotional materials for the new films, which suggests that his role in Star Wars: Episode VIII is significant. Back in February, Ridley told MTV News, "It's such a good story. Seriously. Luke is so cool in this one -- really."

Star Wars Celebration Europe kicks off in London on July 15.
