David Benioff and D.B. Weiss are two of the most simultaneously loved and hated men in the entertainment industry. They brought Game of Thrones from book to screen, but they also deviated from the books by killing off sweet, innocent characters who were simply too precious for this world. (*cough* Shireen and Hodor *cough*)

George R.R. Martin called the duo "even bloodier" than he was after Shireen's fiery death in Season 5 — and that's saying something. But after Hodor's heartbreaking death on last Sunday's episode, Weiss and Benioff have an important message for fans.

They're sorry — but not for slaughtering Hodor and breaking your heart into tiny pieces. Instead, they're sorry for the domino effect they've now put into place, which has already spread like wildfire across the Internet.
