When Taylor Swift hit the red carpet at Monday night's Met Gala, her look was very high-fashion alien, if you will. She traded in her trademark "red lip, classic" for a deep purple and rocked an out-of-this-world silver snakeskin dress to celebrate the "Fashion in an Age of Technology" theme.

Tay's platinum blonde hair, edgy makeup, and chunky lace-up heels reminded the Internet of another Taylor -- Taylor Momsen, formerly the good-girl-gone-goth Jenny Humphrey on Gossip Girl. Momsen is now tearing up the stage with her band, The Pretty Reckless.

The two singer-songwriters fall into radically different genres -- Swift is all about the pop, while Momsen and The Pretty Reckless are in the rock vein -- but as a fan of both artists, I couldn't help but notice that some of their lyrics are more similar than you'd expect.
