When Prince died on Thursday (April 21), fans across the globe grieved the loss of one of music's most timeless legends. Soon, endless tributes flooded the Internet. Madonna, Stevie Nicks, Justin Timberlake, and more wrote about how Prince's music changed their lives. Then, Beyoncé shared this touching photo:

Even President Obama honored the "Purple Rain" singer, writing, "Few artists have influenced the sound and trajectory of popular music more distinctly, or touched quite so many people with their talent. As one of the most gifted and prolific musicians of our time, Prince did it all ... He was a virtuoso instrumentalist, a brilliant bandleader, and an electrifying performer."

Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton spoke about Prince in an interview with a Philadelphia radio station.

"You think of him as being almost eternal," she said. "I mean, he was a bigger-than-life personality, he was not only a songwriter and a singer but literally a one-man band. He was such a great showman. I just was so, so sad. And I just want everybody to spend some time reflecting on this American original. He was so extraordinary."

Last night, many musicians dedicated performances to Prince and covered his songs. In the coming days, weeks, and months, there will surely be more emotional tributes to Prince, and these performances are just the beginning.

Alicia Keys

When Keys took the stage at the Tribeca Film Festival -- she was there to promote her new short film, The Gospel -- she told the crowd, "Prince showed me what it means to be an artist ... how to be bold and brazen." She sang a cover of "How Come U Don’t Call Me," which she included in her Songs in A Minor album. You can read her full Prince tribute on her website.

Jennifer Hudson

The cast of Broadway's The Color Purple, led by the multitalented Hudson, had the audience in tears with their cover of "Purple Rain." Seriously, you will cry watching this. Don't say we didn't warn you.

The Cast of Hamilton

The Hamilton cast and musical director Alex Lacamoire spent yesterday putting together an upbeat rendition of Prince’s "Let’s Go Crazy."

Mariah Carey

"He was a friend to me, too, and he talked me through some times I really, really needed somebody," Carey said before singing "One Sweet Day" in Paris.

Gotye

When Gotye won a Grammy for "Somebody That I Used To Know" in 2013, Prince told him he loved the song. It's fitting that three years later, Gotye paid homage with an a capella cover of "Sometimes It Snows In April."

Pearl Jam

"If there was anyone I thought would be playing when he was 80 or 85, it was gonna be Prince. So today was a real shock," lead singer Eddie Vedder told the crowd at a concert in Columbia, South Carolina. The band played the iconic opening notes of Prince's "Purple Rain."

Oasis

Across the pond in Glasgow, Oasis dedicated their performance of "Live Forever" -- appropriate, right? -- to Prince, whose image was projected over the stage in purple lights.

Alabama Shakes

The stage lights were also purple at Alabama Shakes's show in Nashville. In remembrance, the band performed their "Gimme All Your Love," a song Prince once played himself.
