'The Mortal Instruments' Cast Talks Awkward Auditions and Disastrous Movies

It's always a good omen when the star of an anticipated film says that at one point during the filmmaking process, he found himself "standing there thinking, 'Oh God, this is going to be a disaster.'" Or, at least, the stars of "The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones" must hope so.

Jamie Campbell Bower, who plays the film's male lead, Jace, admitted to MTV News' Josh Horowitz at San Diego Comic-Con that he'd had that less-than-optimistic thought during the filmmaking process. He and Lily Collins, who plays female lead Clary in the upcoming adaptation of the bestselling Young Adult series, dished on the movie and their awkward auditions.

Collins apparently twirled her hair the entire audition, and Bower admitted to being "chubby."

"Oh, yes, I enjoyed a club sandwich or two in my past," he said.

"He's since moved past that," Collins was quick to add.

"The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones" is due in theaters August 23. Be sure to check out our live coverage of San Diego Comic-Con in partnership with MTV News all week.
