'The Avengers' Dominates 2013 MTV Movie Awards

The 2013 MTV Movie Awards were held earlier this evening and the coveted Movie of the Year Award went to "The Avengers."

"This is the award that means the most to me, I am so grateful and very excited" director Joss Whedon said in his acceptance speech. "And for 2015, we're going to bring you 'Avengers 2.'"

Earlier, "The Avengers" also won the award for Best Fight, while the Golden Popcorn for Best Villain went to Tom Hiddleston for his turn as Loki. And "Avengers" star Samuel L. Jackson took home the Golden Popcorn for Best WTF Moment for his scenes with Jamie Foxx in "Django Unchained."

"I'd like to thank Samuel Jackson for being the baddest actor in the entire game," Foxx said before almost eveything Jackson had to say was bleeped out by censors.

The first award of the evening went to Bradley Cooper, who took home the Golden Popcorn for Best Male Performance for his role in "Silver Linings Playbook." Cooper and "Silver Linings Playbook" co-star Jennifer Lawrence also won the award for Best Kiss.

Cooper accepted the award on Lawrence's behalf, saying the absent star "was great to kiss."

While Lawrence wasn't on hand, her "Hunger Games" co-star Liam Hemsworth was in the house, however, unveiling the first trailer for "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire." And fans were also treated to brand new exclusive footage from the upcoming Marvel superhero blockbuster "Iron Man 3."

In other awards, Host Rebel Wilson won the award for Best Breakthrough Performance, while Best Shirtless Performance went to perennial favorite Taylor Lautner, who punked the audience by sporting a giant fake belly under his shirt. And honorary awards were also given out to Emma Watson, who was presented with this year's Trailblazer award; Will Ferrell, who was given the Comedic Genius Award; and Jamie Foxx, who earned the Generation award for his body of work in film, television and music.

"To all those artists out there, keep pushing yourself," Foxx said in his acceptance speech. "Anytime somebody tells you that you can't do something, make sure you do it."

"Most of you guys here tonight like me and think I am funny," Farrell said in his acceptance speech. "For those of you who enjoy what I do, thank you for your support. For those of you who don't think I'm funny, I will be happy to fight you in the parking lot after the show."

Watson, for her part, thanked fans for sticking with her through all her on-screen growing pains. "You have supported me in all of my awkwardness and allowed me to grow into the kind of person and actress I wanted to be. Becoming yourself is hard to do."

Earlier, Wilson kicked things off in style thanks to a live musical performance where she was joined by the cast of her hit comedy "Pitch Perfect," who won the award for Best Musical Moment. She also opened with a hilarious skit featuring former host James Franco and a special suit of Iron Man armor designed just for Wilson herself.
