Kevin Smith Finally, Actually Writing 'Clerks 3' ...As A Movie

Kevin Smith has been dithering over "Clerks III" for so long now, the story about Dante and Randal turning 40 looked like it might instead have to become the story of Dante and Randal turning 50. First Smith was going to stage the threequel to the cult classic as Broadway play. And then he was going to do it as a movie. But then he decided he might do it as a book. The guy just could not make up his mind.

Until now, that is, as Smith revealed on his Twitter feed that he has finally begun writing "Clerks III" — and it's being staged as a reality dance competition.

Just kidding, it's going to be a movie.

Of course, just because he's written the title page doesn't mean we're going to be seeing "Clerks III" any time soon. After all, writing a screenplay can take a while and then he's got to do the casting and pre-production and the actual filming and blah blah blah. So it could be a bit of a wait.

Still, for fans of Smith's cult-classic 1994 hit "Clerks" and the rest of his "New Jersey Chronicles," seeing proof that Smith is really working on the story and not just blowing smoke out his rear is welcome news (and a welcome change).

Snoochie Boochies? At long last, it seems like it.
