How 'The Hunger Games' Cast Is Spending the Summer

"The Hunger Games" gang will be back in action this fall, when production on the first sequel "Catching Fire" — now formally titled "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire" — will finally begin (eep!).

So what've they got going on this summer until then? Here's the scoop on how Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth and the rest of "The Hunger Games" cast are spending their summer.

Jennifer Lawrence

Lawrence is a hard-working gal, and this summer is no exception. She's looking down the barrel of not one but two major upcoming studio productions. So, this summer she's been spotted working out like crazy, meeting up with "Catching Fire" director Francis Lawrence for a pow-wow about the project and otherwise readying herself to reprise Katniss for movie two and return as Mystique for the sequel to "X-Men: First Class."

That said, J.Law's been slipping in some fun time here and there as well. Between catching John Mayer's eye at Medieval Times, hitting up the movies with friends and trekking out to Monte Carlo and London for a nice little vacay with her beau Nicholas Hoult — to catch a glimpse of the Queen, no less! — she's been having her fair share of funzies this summer as well.

Josh Hutcherson

To read his Twitter feed, one might suspect that Hutcherson is spending his summer building a zombie-proof shelter somewhere out west, but in actuality, our Peeta's just purchased himself a swanky house in Hollywood which once belonged to Ellen DeGeneres and the late Heath Ledger. In other words, the Hutch has a ton of home decorating to do while the weather is hot.

He's also been spotted cruising around on his trusty motorcycle, hitting up the racetrack for a spin or two and playing drag queen Bingo (yep, it's exactly what you think it is). What he's most excited about for this summer, and we can't blame him here, is when "The Dark Knight Rises" drops in one month! Hutcherson told MTV, "I'm a huge Batman fan. Growing up I actually thought I was Batman ... I wore a Batman mask and cape around until I was like 14 years old. For me, that movie is going to be the most epic thing of the summer, for sure."

Liam Hemsworth

Now that he's engaged to long-time girlfriend and "The Last Song" co-star Miley Cyrus, Hemsworth's got some wedding planning to do! We kid (though not about the engagement; that's actually true).

Really, Hemsworth's been spending his summer toiling away down in sweltering Louisiana for his latest project, "Empire State," a heist/cop drama with Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Emma Roberts, and Nikki Reed. Then, he'll get to work on the book-to-film thriller "Paranoia," which he'll lead, and then close the summer out all masculine-like with Comic-Con and other promotions for "Expendables 2," the macho follow-up to "The Expendables." His role was cut from the first installment, but after all his "Hunger Games" successes, there was no stinkin' way they'd let him slip out from the sequel.

It's all business for our Gale this summer, but that's alright; Miley and big brother Chris Hemsworth are soaking in enough rays to cover the whole fam!

Woody Harrelson

Harrelson's turning his summertime attention to the theater. From July until September, Harrelson's shedding his Haymitch Abernathy skin for a more proactive role as the co-writer and director of the dark comedy play "Bullet for Adolf," an off-Broadway show he's been working on for decades, based on his own real-life relationship with a writer named Frankie Hyman. "This is a big dream for me, to put this play up in New York. I've wanted to do it forever," he told the New York Times.

Lenny Kravitz

When you look at Kravitz's schedule, it's hard to believe he even had time to do "The Hunger Games" in the first place. This summer, he'll be touring the entire stinking planet (but seriously, he's going to a lot of places in Europe) before getting a little break from July until September. During that time, he'll be shooting both "Catching Fire" and a film called "The Butler", so we hope he doesn't lose his voice on tour! Cinna's got some big things to say in "Catching Fire!"

Elizabeth Banks

Like Jennifer Lawrence before her, Banks recently squeezed in a little one-on-one time with director Francis Lawrence. Only, her meeting was in Hawaii — poor girl, right? — while she was attending the Maui Film Festival, which debuted her latest her latest picture "People Like Us." According to E! Online, she and her hubby Max Handelman took one-year-old son Felix along to Hawaii to make a little family vacay out of the deal, and she and Lawrence "talked about where the movie is going." For power mom Banks, though, little Felix is "number one and everything else is a battle for number two."

Banks also likes to relax, so the rest of her summer will entail some promotional work for "People" and her latest "Pitch Perfect," sure, but she'll probably squeeze in some more downtime too before "Catching Fire" production picks up.

The Rest

Some of the other tributes from "The Hunger Games" will take part in Creation Entertainment's very first "Hunger Games"-related convention called Fiction2Film next week in Chicago, including Willow Shields (Prim), Amandla Stenberg (Rue), Dayo Okeniyi (Thresh) and Jacqueline Emerson (Foxface).
