Jim Carrey has spent the last decade securing himself a place in Hollywood as more than just a rubber-faced goof, but it looks like he's ready to get stupid once again.

Coming Soon reports that the actor is returning to his ridiculous roots with a sequel to his 1994 hit comedy "Dumb and Dumber."

At a press junket for their remake of "The Three Stooges," scheduled for release April 13, Bobby and Peter Farrelly announced that audiences can expect a "Dumber" sequel in the not-too-distant future.

Peter Farrelly told reporters, "We're getting set to shoot 'Dumb and Dumber 2' in September. It's the first sequel we've ever done and we've got Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels back."

In addition to letting fans know about the impending sequel, Farrelly was clear to point out that the 2003 prequel (and flop) "Dumb and Dumberer: When Harry Met Lloyd" was not one of the brothers' creations.

"That was a studio thing," said Farrelly. "So we've always wanted to do a sequel and finally Jim called up. Jeff always wanted to do it. We always wanted to do it. Jim was busy, but he called and said, 'We've got to do this thing again.' He had just watched 'Dumb and Dumber' and he said, 'This is the perfect sequel. Let's do it.'"
