'Twilight?' 'Hunger Games?' Everything's Better With Loggins

Listen up, children, and hear of a time when the giants of music wrote awesome guitar-driven theme songs to all the best movies. This era was called "The '80s," and its king was Kenny Loggins, who wrote and performed timeless classics like "Highway to the Danger Zone" from "Top Gun" and "Footloose" from...well, some movie or other.

With many movie soundtracks languishing in the licensed songs pit of despair, we think the time is ripe for a Loggins revival, and so does Funny or Die.

The site has a pair of videos in which we see the now-aged (but, apparently, sense-of-humor-possessing) Loggins, with his new band, Blue Sky Riders, knock out tracks from some high-profile current films, including "The Help," "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1," and "Real Steel." The second of the two, embedded below, actually puts the songs over footage of the films in questions, and damn if the tune to "Highway to the Danger Zone" doesn't actually make an exciting underscore to scenes of Katniss running through the woods in "The Hunger Games."

Loggins: He's still got it.
