One thing you have to say about the guys from Monty Python: they will stop at nothing to pull off a good joke.

Not even death.

That's right: the reunion you never thought you'd see -- mainly because it's technically impossible -- is about to happen, as The New York Times is reporting that deceased Monty Python member Graham Chapman is in the process of reuniting with the rest of the gang for a new animated film about his life. Now there's dedication to your craft.

So just how is the legendary British comedy troupe pulling this one off, considering Chapman died of cancer back in 1989? Well, it turns out that long, long ago, Chapman recorded an entire audio track of his almost entirely fictionalized 1980 memoir, "A Liar’s Autobiography: Volume VI." Using this voicework, animators from 15 different studios are piecing together a feature-length film -- with the other members of Monty Python playing all the non-Chapman roles, including characters such as Chapman's parents.

Of course, just how biographical Chapman's autobiography actually is may be a matter of some debate.

"The film shouldn’t be made," fellow Python Terry Jones told The New York Times jokingly. "There isn’t a single word of truth in it. It’s all a downright, absolute, blackguardly lie."

Co-director Jeff Simpson doesn't necessarily disagree, but stresses that, even with these possible (intentional) inaccuracies, the film is still more a tribute to Chapman than to Python as a whole.

"Graham’s is the story of a man who was openly gay but secretly alcoholic," Simpson said. "This is not the story of Monty Python, it is a man’s life."

Whatever the case, the movie is likely to be as close to a Monty Python reunion as fans will ever see, with Jones, John Cleese, Terry Gilliam and Michael Palin all on board (the final member, Eric Idle, is still in discussions but may contribute before the film is completed).

Sounds like Chapman truly is getting the last laugh.
