Three Mortals in Chase for Jace in 'Instruments'

The next big casting move for the folks "The Mortal Instruments" adaptation is finding the perfect Jace, a Shadowhunter who serves as Clary's introduction to a strange new side of the city and her own magical destiny. He is, if you will, Clary's Edward Cullen, but with scars instead of sparkles.

Although NextMovie fans picked Alex Pettyfer as their ideal Jace, it appears the casting team has moved on and selected three other pretty young things to consider.

The Wrap has spied Jamie Campbell Bower of "Twilight" and "Harry Potter" fame, male model Leebo Freeman and "Eragon" star Ed Speleers on the lot at Sony, no doubt there to read with star Lily Collins.

While we're gunning for Campbell Bower, Leebo Freeman has that bad boy appeal that befits a Shadowhunter. If you don't believe us, check out his Model Mayhem profile. He works the runway and rocks out to death metal in his spare time. Roar!

So if you thought you were done lurking in the YA section of your favorite bookstore just because "The Hunger Games" had concluded, you're dead wrong. "The Mortal Instruments" will have six books in its franchise by the time author Cassandra Clare wraps up her spooky NYC story full of gothy grit and magic. Obviously, if this first movie does well, it will be spun out into a franchise. And with a cool action heroine with an It Girl in the starring role, that sounds like good news to us!

"The Mortal Instruments" will begin filming after Collins is finished with Tarsem's "The Brothers Grimm: Snow White." Although Tarsem is known for his ultra-creepy first film "The Cell," his epic flick "The Fall" is worth checking out for its gorgeous visuals, which include Lee Pace. She'll be sharing the screen with Julia Roberts and Armie Hammer from "The Social Network," among other big names.

The real question is, who will be her costars in this franchise-ready flick? Stay tuned!
