Is Vin Diesel the Next 'Terminator?'

Critics of Vin Diesel have long complained that the muscular superstar's acting ability mainly consists of standing around and looking tough -- he may be an intimidating presence on screen, they charge, but when it comes to portraying basic human emotion, he falls flat. Some say he's almost robotic, even.

We say, if life gives you lemons, then make some lemonade. Case in point: according to Moviehole, Diesel may or may not be in line to play an evil robot in the upcoming fifth installment of the "Terminator" franchise, where his ability to seem almost, but not quite, human would be an asset rather than a liability.

That ought to shut those critics up!

Diesel, as you know, is currently bouncing around the world hyping his new action flick "Fast Five," which is set to open nationwide on April 29. Well, when the gang stopped by Rio to premiere the film, "Fast Five" director Justin Lin -- who is also in the mix to helm "Terminator 5" -- was asked whether or not he'd be interested in casting his frequent collaborator Diesel in the flick.

"We’ve talked about the [Terminator] mythology," Lin said, "He’s a great guy and a great actor. I really like working with him so anything I do I usually talk to him about."

"You never know," he added.

Frankly, we think Diesel would be a perfect inhuman killing machine, though it doesn't sound like you should start pre-ordering your Diesel action figures just yet. And while haters gotta hate -- it's right there in the haters union contract -- we think talk of Diesel having limited skills is crazy anyway. Just look at "The Pacifier" if you need proof of his range.

And hey they said the same things about Arnold Schwarzenegger back in the day. So if this doesn't work out, don't worry, Vin.

There's always politics.
