Amber Heard Describes Her 'Justice League' Costume As 'Strange'

It's 'half armor, half scales'

The King of the Seven Seas has chosen his Queen, and her name is Amber Heard.

After months of speculation, Heard confirmed to ET on March 17 that she had been cast as Mera, Queen of Xebel (and later, Atlantis) in Zack Snyder and Warner Bros.' ever-expanding DC Universe. The 29-year-old actress will make her first appearance as Mera in 2017's The Justice League Part One before appearing in the 2018 standalone Aquaman film opposite Game of Thrones star Jason Momoa, who's starring as the titular Justice League member.

Apparently, Heard's costume is just as strange and badass as Momoa's Aquaman get-up. "It's interesting. It's like, half suit of armor, half scales," Heard said. "It's strange... We're in the process of building it now, so it's coming along."

Hmmm. Sounds like the perfect costume for a water-wielding warrior like Mera. (But what about her iconic crown?!)

Mera Justice League

Production on The Justice League Part 1 kicks off in April, so costume designer Michael Wilkinson better get a move on it.

For those unfamiliar with Mera's many talents, here's what you need to know: in short, she has the ability to manipulate water on a grand scale and form objects. She's also a natural-born leader having spent a long period of time governing a colony of exiles while simultaneously training for battle -- so she's pretty badass and definitely should not be referred to simply as "Aquaman's wife."

The Justice League Part One is set for release on November 17, 2017.
