Trailer: 'The Lone Ranger'

After months of anticipation, and one much-buzzed about tease at Comic-Con, the world was finally treated to the first trailer for Johnny Depp's high octane western "The Lone Ranger" last night.

And all we can say is: Hi-Yo Silver! And Away!

Of course, there were a few surprises in the trailer, the main one being that the star of the film seems to be neither Armie Hammer (who plays the titular masked vigilante) nor Depp (who plays his unexpectedly fierce Native American partner Tonto) but rather an assortment of lovingly filmed trains. The trailer does play out just a little bit like the most serious and epic episode of "Thomas the Tank Engine" ever made.

But hey, that's cool. After all, "The Lone Ranger" is also the latest collaboration between Depp and his "Pirates of the Caribbean" and "Rango" director Gore Verbinski. And just as all the fetishizing of The Black Pearl didn't sink "Pirates," we have a feeling this newfound love of choo-choos won't detract from "The Lone Ranger" one bit.
