Just when you thought it was safe to go back to Lakewood...

MTV's Scream will return for a blood-soaked second season on Monday, May 30, the network has announced -- with yet another killer playing a psychotic (and deadly) mind-game with the fictional town.

But what's been going on with our favorite group of survivors since podcaster Piper sought revenge on her birth mother and tried to kill, like, just about everyone? Pull up a chair, because we've got the tea:

Season 2 picks up several months after the original killing spree, and Emma (played by Willa Fitzgerald) has just returned to Lakewood after trying to recover in therapy. Key word: "trying." Her friends and family are walking around her on eggshells and questioning whether Emma has truly gotten over the deeply traumatic turn of events -- including that time she watched her boyfriend get cut in half by a piece of farm machinery (RIP Will, that must have hurt).

Meanwhile, fan favorite Brooke (Carlson Young) is now officially dating Jake (Tom Maden) -- see ya, Mr. Branson -- but the two are keeping their romance a secret from her father, the we-still-think-he's-shady Mayor Maddox.

Meanwhile, the all-knowing Noah (John Karna) is giving us more reasons to stan for him: He's donned his Sherlock Holmes hat yet again and is slowing getting closer to the truth about the Season 1 murders. And oh yeah, that brings us to a certain someone who just happened to be spotted burning letters from Piper at the tale end of last season's finale and suggesting that she had a connection to the carnage: Audrey (Bex Taylor-Klaus). This season, Miss Jensen-if-you're-nasty is desperately trying to hide her association with the killer -- too bad she's being harassed by someone who knows the truth (karma's a bitch, honey).

Also back on board: Tracy Middendorf as Emma's long-suffering mother Maggie and -- we saved the best for last -- Amadeus Serafini as the brooding Kieran (hey, producers -- a few more shirtless scenes this season won't hurt, thanks).

In addition, the population of Lakewood is increasing (before its inevitable decrease) courtesy of some brand-new cast additions. Among them:

Kiana Ledé will play Zoe, an overachieving H.S. student who harbors a secret. Ledé is with Orange Factory Music and signed with Republic Records.

Austin Highsmith will portray Karen Lang, a young, idealistic high school psychology teacher who becomes a confidant and mentor to her students. Her credits include Murder in the First and Criminal Minds.

Karina Logue will play Kieran's aunt, Tina Hudson, who has a grifter's sense of self-reliance. Logue's credits include Ray Donovan and Bates Motel.

Sean Grandillo will portrary Eli, Kieran's cousin who seems squeaky-clean but may have ulterior motives. His credits include Broadway's Spring Awakening.

Plus, with Sheriff Hudson (and his intestines) but a memory, a new cop is on the beat: Anthony Ruivivar will play Sheriff Michael Acosta, who grew up in Lakewood and has returned just in time for the new killing spree. His credits include Banshee and American Horror Story.

Santiago Segura will play Sheriff Acosta's son Gustavo, a dark and brooding H.S. student who's deeply into comic books, horror and (what else?) serial killers. His credits include 47 Meters Down and Silicon Valley.
