Teenage Mulder And Scully Will Star In A New 'X-Files' Series

Who doesn't love a good origin story?

As The X-Files revival series wraps up its six-episode run tonight (February 22), fans aren't ready to let Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) and Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson) go... again. But thankfully, they won't have to, at least not for very long.

Two new books in The X-Files universe will drop January 2017, Entertainment Weekly revealed. Making up The X-Files Origins series, the novels star Mulder and Scully like you've never seen them before: as teenagers.

Featuring a 17-year-old Mulder and a 15-year-old Scully, novels Agent of Chaos and Devil’s Advocate will each focus on one member of America's government conspiracy duo.

Agent of Chaos, written by Beautiful Creatures author Kami Garcia, will follow Mulder's origin story, while Devil’s Advocate, written by Assassin’s Code author Jonathan Maberry, focuses on Scully's adolescent experiences.

While we have some knowledge of the super sleuthers' early years (i.e. Mulder's sister's abduction) these two books get to explore all the unanswered questions we didn't even know we had.

And yes, while it's not the same as seeing Mulder and Scully together on your TV screen, it's still a ~spooky~ new way to obsess over all things X-Files. We still want to believe.
