Katy Perry Has The Perfect Strategy For Keeping Her Cool On Twitter

This is why she'll never have a Kanye-esque social media outburst.

Though she’s been at the center of rumored feuds with the likes of Taylor Swift and Nicki Minaj, Katy Perry isn’t really known as an instigator or a scandal-starter in the pop culture world. And when it comes to her social media behavior… well… run-of-the-mill tweets like these are hardly enraging.

In a new interview with The New York Times, the singer explained her attitude about social media after the writer brought up that she seemed to enjoy Kanye West and Wiz Khalifa’s recent war of words. Asked if she ever has to hold herself back on Twitter, Katy revealed her strategy for keeping things cool.

“I do this thing where I just save as draft,” she said. “Save as draft and sleep — and then wake up and go, ‘Nah.’ It’s not worth it, you know? Or I just book my therapist.”

Avoiding rash decision-making but literally sleeping on it?! Hmm… sounds like some sage advice we all could use.

Along with revealing that nugget of wisdom, Katy also shared a similarly zen attitude about her music. Asked how her new album is coming along, she diplomatically explained that she’s “in the research and development phase.” (Whatever that means.)

“I’m taking a little time,” she said. “I don’t want to jump on any trends. I just need to evolve.

“The only thing that is on my mind when creating music is being authentic and vulnerable and making sure that it connects,” she added. “And I know that it does connect because numbers don’t lie. I know that might sound a little sassy, but all I want to do is stay true to myself and dig deep to pull out some of the messages or perspectives that I have on the world.”

As for whether any of those messages or perspectives includes the aforementioned dog-peeing-on-bed incident of 2016, we’ll just have to wait and see.
