The 'Powerpuff Girls' Are Back -- And They're Taking On The Patriarchy

See the first clip from the 'Powerpuff Girls' reboot.

Sugar, spice, and everything nice. It's a simple recipe, really. You can make a pie with it. You can probably make some sort of all-natural scrub with it. Oh, and you can also dismantle the patriarchy with it. Technically, you need Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup to do the dismantling, but you know what we mean.

The Powerpuff Girls are back!

As previously announced, The Powerpuff Girls, which first ran on Cartoon Network from 1998 to 2005, is getting a reboot on the network this spring. While the girls will be voiced by new cast members, the show will still follow the girls as they juggle school and saving the world, all before bedtime.

In the first clip from the colorful reboot, Buttercup confronts a villain who wants to shut down a hippie carnival to get Townsville back to its "manly roots." Unfortunately for that dude, Buttercup doesn't like being called a "princess." One step for the Powerpuff Girls, one huge leap for feminism.
