17 Reasons We're Thankful For 'High School Musical'
Ten years ago today, basically every teen in America was gathered around a television screen, waiting to watch the premiere of the movie that would change the entertainment industry forever: "High School Musical."
What we all saw that day was the start of something new: the post-"HSM" world. "High School Musical" gave us all more than just a couple hours of entertainment. It gave us new teen heartthrobs to obsess over, new dances to learn with our friends, new songs to belt out in the car. Today (Jan. 20), the 10th anniversary of the most important day ever, let's celebrate all the things we have "High School Musical" to thank for.
It gave us Zac Efron.
Also including, but not limited to, Zac Efron's face, Zac Efron's smile, Zac Efron's abs, etc.
And Vanessa Hudgens.
The giver of "Spring Breakers," a new Rizzo in the upcoming "Grease Live" and hair goals galore.
It taught us to live our dreams.
And be ourselves.
It gave us the best music.
"Bop to the Top," "Stick to the Status Quo," "What I've Been Looking For"... the list could go on and on.
Including the ultimate pump up jam.
And #karaokegoals.
If you don't meet your true love at karaoke, did you even go?
It gave us Sharpay Evans.
Probably one of the best characters of all time.
Who then gave us this comeback.
We got to experience Lucas Grabeel's dance moves.
And Corbin Bleu's dance moves.
Which would be further showcased on "Dancing With the Stars" and in Broadway's "In the Heights."
It taught us that we should never stick to the status quo.
And showed us that you're never alone.
It has the ultimate rallying cry.
It taught us how to deal with difficult situations.
We wouldn't have the rest of the franchise without it.
"High School Musical 2," "3" and any possible future installments wouldn't even exist without the original.
Basically, this movie was all we were looking for.
