Finally, A Tool That Cuts Down How Long It Takes To Wash Your Hair

Having long hair can be great. Letting your shiny locks blow freely in the breeze is a quick way to feel like a supermodel. But, the upkeep for long hair is super time-consuming. Sometimes, it'd be nice to not have to allot over an hour for washing and drying hair.

Thankfully, there's now an invention for all your #longhairstruggles. Known as PonyDry, this invention "is easy to use, will save you time, and reduce damage to your long hair," according to its Instagram bio.

Part of PonyDry's ingenuity is that it understands the most important part of your hair to wash is the roots. Unfortunately, the other parts of your hair seem to get in the way and end up getting wet and washed, too. PonyDry works to eliminate that, protecting the length of your hair from the shower head.

It works by putting your ponytail into a sleeve and then bungee closing it up, keeping water out. There's a step-by-step guide on how to attach it to your hair, but sometimes seeing the process in action is more helpful.

It sounds like a dream come true, right? Well, yes and no. Hairstylist Matt Fugate told Allure, "I feel it can be great for thick and curly hair, but for fine and normal hair it will cause unwanted creases and kinks. Also, no matter what, the steam from the hot water will still cause the cuticles to raise up inside the bag and cause the products that you previously have in your hair to react."

If you're looking for a second opinion, hairstylist Kat Zemtsova told Seventeen it's perfect for those who work out daily and don't want to spend time rewashing and styling their hair twice a day.

However, Zemtsova states all of your hair should be washed weekly: "All the bacteria that collects and sits in the hair starts rubbing off on your face and neck, which can cause breakouts. And your hair follicles stay blocked, which can eventually cause hair loss." Whoa, hold your horses there. Acne and hair loss?! Not cool.

So, PonyDry doesn't sound like the end all, cure all for hair washing pains, but it's definitely a helpful tool when you're feeling extra lazy one day. Just please remember: You need to wash all of your hair at least once a week. Your follicles will thank you.
