As President Obama plans to announce executive action to tighten gun laws on Tuesday, leading Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump has already vowed to "unsign" anything Obama proposes. "There's an assault on the Second Amendment. You know Obama's going to do an executive order and really knock the hell out of it," Trump told supporters in Biloxi, Mississippi on Saturday. "He can't do that. So he's going to sign another executive order having to do with the Second Amendment, having to do with guns. I will veto. I will unsign that so fast." Obama is expected to meet with Attorney General Loretta Lynch on Monday (Jan. 4) to discuss his options and announce an order as early as Tuesday that will likely expand background checks on gun sales. After failing to get Congress to act on even one new gun law during his time in office -- during which there have been dozens of mass shootings -- Obama will make his pitch to the public on the issue during a one-hour town hall on CNN on Thursday night.

Armed Protesters Vow To Stay In Oregon Nature Refuge Indefinitely

The group of armed protesters who took over a building in a national wildlife refuge on Saturday are saying they won't leave until they get what they want, only nobody really knows what they want yet. Police haven't yet surrounded the building, but the FBI is investigating the situation and Harney County District 3 schools have called off classes for the week out of caution. The two ranchers at the center of the case that inspired the takeover, Dwight and Steven Hammond, are expected to turn themselves in on Monday to serve some additional prison time.

San Bernardino Building To Re-Open

The offices of the Inland Regional Center in San Bernardino, California, will re-open on Monday a month after 14 people were massacred and 22 wounded by a radicalized husband and wife. While the larger campus will host workers again for the first time since the incident, the conference center where the shocking attack took place will remain closed indefinitely. A private ceremony will be held to honor the victims of the attack on Monday afternoon.

Quick Take: Three suspects are being held following the shocking execution of Gisela Mota, 33, who was murdered just hours after taking the oath of office as Mayor of the gang-infested central Mexican city of Temixco. Officials are pointing at organized crime gangs in the case, in which two suspects were killed and three others arrested, including a 32-year-old woman, an 18-year-old man and an unidentified minor.

Obama is expected to veto the effort, which would also cut funds for Planned Parenthood; Republicans plan to hold a veto override vote on Jan. 22, the same day anti-abortion activists will hold their annual march in Washington. Republicans have tried to defund or dismantle Obamacare more than 50 times to date.
