Phonat Mixes Juicy Breakbeat Dance Tunes on '149'

London-based DJ and producer Phonat knows how to make an impression. The shaggy-haired, 7-foot-tall musician puts together memorable sets that bridge the sounds of ambient dubstep, glitch-hop and futuristic disco. On the heels of releasing his Identity Theft EP on Skrillex’s OWSLA label, Phonat put together an exclusive mix for Hive titled 149 that seamlessly melds these different sounds. “I selected most of the tracks on a bus in London,” he explains to Hive. (Hence, the name 149.) “There are different atmospheres and textures but with a connecting vibe.” Phonat includes "Identitity Theft" and "Machines Do Care" from his EP and fills out the rest of the hour-long mix with warbled dance numbers from Sepalcure, Com Truise, Skream and much more. “I'm really into 'Lose Sight' by Adam Bayer and 'Two' by Culprate at the moment,” he adds.
