As half of disco-fiending duo Runaway, it's natural for Marcos Cabral to have a love for extended warehouse grooves. His partner and fellow Brooklynite, Jacques Renault, are responsible for local traveling, late-night dance fetes like Let's Play House, where they mix a selection of deep house, boogie and techno alongside their own creations. (The pair's remix of Midnight Magic's "Beam Me Up" is one of our favorite New York-centric feel-good anthems in recent years.) In this all-vinyl mix for Time Out Magazine's DJ series, Cabral follows in the lines of his own, homegrown Hamilton Dance Records imprint with a mostly instrumental set of dubby techno, the never-ending thud of a kick-drum, uplifting synth swirls, and melodies that are registered in octaves so low that they easily pull you into head-bobbing hypnosis.
