It’s 2015 And Sporty Spice Just Performed A Spice Girls Song — Seriously

Watch Mel C flawlessly perform 'Too Much.'

The year was 1998. All over the world, hordes of Spice Girls fans flooded their local theaters to witness that year’s — nay, that century’s! — finest cinematic masterpiece: “Spice World.” When the lights dimmed, we saw the five girls’ dancing silhouettes juxtaposed against a color-washed background, and the sensual opening notes of “Too Much” kicked off two hours of completely bonkers movie-watching.

Almost 18 years later, Melanie Chisolm, aka Mel C, aka Sporty Spice, has blessed fans with the ultimate nostalgia-inducing gift: an updated solo take on the sassy ballad.

The singer, now 41 (feel old much?!), stopped by BBC Radio’s “Chris Evans Breakfast Show” to perform an acoustic version of “Too Much,” from the group’s sophomore album, Spiceworld. Accompanied by a small group of musicians (all male, BTW — she clearly hasn’t replaced her O.G. girl squad), Mel C nails every note with her smoky vocals, including the ultimate girl power declaration: “What part of no don’t you understand?/ I want a man, not a boy who thinks he can!”

Needless to say, this new performance is making us even more hopeful that the Spice Girls decide to reunite, something they’ve teased in recent months. In September, Melanie Brown, aka Scary Spice, told Meredith Vierira, “There’s nothing to really spill because nothing has been announced, nothing’s official. I mean, yes, we are in talks because it’s our 20th anniversary. And I want something to happen. I’m forcing them a little bit, but yeah. I’ve been saying it for five years, ‘We are reuniting. We are, aren’t we?’”

Hope so! That's what we really, really want.
