Boxing Legend Muhammad Ali Had A Knock-Out Response To Trump’s Islamophobia

'I believe that our political leaders should use their position to bring understanding about the religion of Islam and clarify that these misguided murderers have perverted people's views on what Islam really is.'

At this point, Donald Trump is known for espousing hateful speech, but this time, he got jabbed back by boxing legend Muhammad Ali.

In a statement titled "Presidential Candidates Proposing to Ban Muslim Immigration to the United States," which Ali released Wednesday, he wrote, "I am a Muslim and there is nothing Islamic about killing innocent people in Paris, San Bernardino, or anywhere else in the world ... True Muslims know that the ruthless violence of so called Islamic Jihadists goes against the very tenets of our religion."

While Ali didn't use Trump's name in the statement, judging by that title -- and the content -- it's pretty clear he didn't have to. "We as Muslims have to stand up to those who use Islam to advance their own personal agenda," he wrote. "They have alienated many from learning about Islam. True Muslims know or should know that it goes against our religion to try and force Islam on anybody."

Then there was this, which I really hope Trump read thoroughly: "I believe that our political leaders should use their position to bring understanding about the religion of Islam and clarify that these misguided murderers have perverted people's views on what Islam really is," Ali said.

Back in May, Trump posted this #TBT with the boxing icon, calling him a "friend."

This must have slipped Trump's mind when he asked where all the Muslim sports heroes are (here's a list, BTW). Then again, a lot of things seem to slip Trump's mind lately, like facts, and laws.
