The 19 Best Movie Trailers Of 2015
Let's face it, you probably watch way more movie trailers than you do actual movies -- that's just the way our media-saturated world works right now. And there's a very particular art to creating a trailer that gets you pumped to actually see the full film without revealing too much of what's to come.
Out of all the many, many trailers we sat through this year (not the movies of 2015, mind -- some of these still haven't come out yet!), here are the ones we kept coming back to and watching over and over again. Will 2016 hurry up already so we can finally see some of these awesome-looking films?
Worried that Zoolander's lost his edge? If nothing else, at least this new sequel showed us Justin Bieber escaping from bad guys via parkour and then dying in an alleyway after taking a "Blue Steel" selfie, which is more than enough to satisfy us.
Regardless of how well this movie does when it comes out next year, we'll always have the beautiful imagery of a bunch of badass, Regency-dressed women covered with blood and wielding swords. And that's a beautiful thing.
Admit it, you laughed out loud the first time you saw this trailer -- but it's hard not to keep coming back to it as a tonally weird yet totally perfect little horror story in and of itself.
Seriously, how cute are these adorable cartoon animals? This is going to be the heartwarming, quirky movie to beat next year, no doubt about that.
Who doesn't love Channing Tatum in a sailor suit and Scarlett Johansson as a mermaid? This movie (and the movies within the movie) looks seriously beautiful and has a fantastic, unbelievable cast of A-list hilariousness.
We could all listen to Aidan Gillen say the word "scorch" over and over again until the end of time, but that's not the only thing that makes this trailer exceptional -- there's also all the feelings, and the running, and the actual Scotch itself.
Clearly the "Divergent" series is going in a much different direction than the books did, but given the awesome and fascinating world that lies beyond the walls of Chicago, we're pretty pumped to see this version when it comes out next year!
This movie was made of pure smiles and joy and gyrating hips, and while the trailer doesn't quite capture all the magic of it if you ask me, there's no point in asking anything when you're watching Channing Tatum weld a hunk of metal like it's his junk. Mmmm, that's some good "Pony" right there.
Finally we got our first full look at this movie, and it did not disappoint. Unless you're a red cape and you thought you were being sneaky before Lex Luthor told everybody you were coming, I guess. But on the plus side, we were all wrong about Ben Affleck being a terrible Batman -- and check out our first look at Wonder Woman, too!
"Joy"
Admittedly it's hard to believe Jennifer Lawrence as a middle-aged woman, but this trailer definitely shows her at her acting best and in every conceivable situation. Getting married! Getting arrested! Getting to freak people out with a shotgun! It's really going to capture the whole human experience, we bet.
"Creed"
Even if you've never seen a single "Rocky" movie in your entire life, it's hard not to get chills when the big man himself is revealed halfway through this stunning, emotional trailer. And in the meantime, we could watch Michael B. Jordan shadowbox against himself all day.
A latecomer but oh boy, was it worth the wait -- especially for the Bucky Barnes and Black Panther fans among us. Although, maybe not for those of us who love both equally, as they appear not to be very friendly with each other.
"Revenant"
Seriously, seriously brutal. If the whole movie is like this, it will probably kill all of us by the end, and we will love every second of it.
We finally, finally got our first glimpse of Jared Leto's joker, and he did not disappoint. Neither did the rest of this chilling trailer, which looks and feels so different than the rest of the superhero movies in production right now -- probably because it's actually about supervillains, of course.
"Deadpool"
After his treatment in "X-Men Origins: Wolverine," it was hard to trust that 20th Century Fox would do Deadpool right. But they absolutely, totally did. It's like watching the comic book come to life in front of you, in all its ugly, irreverent, oftentimes a little too naughty glory.
This promotional video didn't even contain a single piece of footage from the actual movie and barely even featured Jennfer Lawrence, but wow did it make an impact -- and given what we know about Alma Coin's plans, all the Capitol-like military might in this sequence is all the more eerie.
No one really knew what to expect from this long-awaited "Mad Max" sequel, given all the trouble and time it took to film. But gosh dang, did this trailer not disappoint. Amazing women! Intense car explosions! Giant desert storms! A GUY WITH A FLAMETHROWER GUITAR.
"Who are you?" I have no idea because I can't see myself through all these tears. Seriously, watching Rey's story slowly begin to reveal itself to us -- and watching Han totally buy into the Jedi legend -- was a revelation. Somebody hold me like old man Han holds General Leia right now.
And Again, "Star Wars: The Force Awakens"
But as much as we already love Rey, her solitary journey is nothing compared to the amazing, wonderful, Star Destroyer-full first full-length trailer we got from "Star Wars" earlier this summer. Seriously, how hype are you for this movie?
