'Amazon' Pilot Not Picked Up By The CW

So much for that news that CW's Wonder Woman pilot "Amazon" was beginning its casting search. The planned pilot has been shelved by the network -- at least for the time being.

"Amazon" wasn't included on The CW's recently released pilot orders, but sources say all hope is not lost. Deadline claims that executives at the network felt that the series needed more time to be developed, while The Hollywood Reporter has learned that the project still has a chance of hitting the small screen.

Though "Amazon" wasn't one of the CW's eight pilot orders, sources say that the planned series is still "in contention for fall 2013-14, midseason or beyond." That aligns with what CW president Mark Pedowitz said at TCA, where he commented that the network was waiting to see Allan Heinberg's script and find out who was to cast as main character Diana. Considering how many failed Wonder Woman projects have been seen in recent years, it's comforting to know that the network that gave us "Smallville" and "Arrow" is being careful with this DC property.
