Nathan Fillion Doesn't See 'Avengers 2' In His Future

Nathan Fillion, stop putting yourself down! We love you in "Firefly," "Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog" and "Castle," and we aren't alone in that. What's more important than our adoration is the fact that Joss Whedon thinks you're one of the coolest guys around and likes to get you involved in his projects.

So please, please, please stop destroying our dream that you'll one day be involved in the Marvel universe. Fans had petitioned for Fillion first to play Hawkeye and later to play Ant-Man, but he's saying that he wouldn't feel at home in that world. In fact, he's not even asking for a part.

"I've had more than my fair share of Joss Whedon projects. I find it very difficult, even being the selfish kind of guy I am, to say 'give me more,'" Fillion told Digital Spy in a new interview.

But the real reason for Fillion's lack of interest seems to be his belief that he's not famous enough for one of these big budget projects. He might have an avid fanbase, but that doesn't make "Nathan Fillion" a household name. It seems like that's not something he necessarily wants, either.

"I have to be honest. The entertainment industry is an industry. I love telling stories but finance does meet art. If I were in charge of an 'Avengers' sequel I would be very concerned about what kind of money I could make back overseas, and these kinds of things," Fillion said. "I'm not quite at that level yet where I could just be plopped in there but I'm getting there."

We've heard him use the same excuse as the reason why he doesn't want to play Nathan Drake in the long-planned "Uncharted" movie, but we've got to argue that there should be room for Captain Malcolm Reynolds in any Hollywood sci-fi project. So stop being so down on yourself, Fillion, and let fan interest work its Hollywood magic.
