'Dark Knight' Producer: Christopher Nolan Will 'Never' Make Another Batman Movie

"The Dark Knight Rises" is Christopher Nolan's final Batman movie. After "The Dark Knight Rises," Nolan will not direct another movie about Batman. In just a few weeks, you'll see the final chapter in Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy. Final, final, final.

Have we said "final" enough times yet?

Even though Nolan has been emphatic about his decision to leave Bats behind after "Rises," some still hold out hope that he'll change his mind. Simply put, it ain't happening. Nolan stressed as much earlier this month — there is no "Batman 4" in his future, he confirmed — but in case that wasn't definitive enough for you, Nolan's wife and producing partner Emma Thomas is here to tell you the exact same thing.

"No. Never," she told SFX Magazine about the possibility of Nolan directing another Batman movie. "No, that's truly a never. I cannot imagine a world in which he would ever want to come back."

"At a certain point it's fun to go off and do something different, you know," she added. "We've spent almost 10 years of our lives making Batman films. He was very excited about this film, and the story that he'd come up with, but I just cannot imagine that he would get that excited about another version of the same thing."

For Team Nolan, there's simply no appeal in creating a fourth Batman movie when he's already on the cusp of completing a trilogy, Thomas said.

"The great thing about a trilogy is that it feels like you've got a beginning, a middle and an end. It's like an extended version of a regular film," the producer explained. "Once you get into a fourth film then it's just episodic, and I just can't see him getting excited about making another film where basically you're just wheeling in different villains."

So, again, we repeat: for Nolan, there is no more Batman. The legend ends here, folks. Stock up on Kleenex if you must, but it's time to stop beating this horse, and start readying your goodbyes.
