Anne Hathaway Confirms She's Catwoman In 'The Dark Knight Rises'

It's important to note both of those points in order to appreciate this morning's news: Hathaway says she will be meowing as the feline-friendly character next July.

The actress appeared on "The Oprah Winfrey Show" yesterday to talk about her Oscar-hosting experiences, and it was there she shared a story involving both Batman and her illustrious weekend gig. Furthermore, she used the name "Catwoman" in reference to her "Dark Knight Rises" role.

"Do you want the real story?" Hathaway asked Winfrey.

"Yes," replied the show's host.

"Okay. I've never told the real story before," the actress began. "So the real story is, I was waiting to hear if I'd been cast as Catwoman. And my manager called me, and said 'Are you sitting down?' And I just go 'Oh my god, here it comes.'"

"And she says 'You're about to hear something you will never hear again in your whole life.' I'm like, 'Okay,'" she continued. "And she goes, 'You've been asked to host the Oscars.' And I'm like 'I'm Catwoman!!!! ...WHAT?! Oh. Oh. Okay. WHAT?!'"

If only we could all have these problems.

Not that any of this comes as a surprise. Nolan confirmed late last year that "Dark Knight Rises" would be his last film in the Batman universe. Selina Kyle will be a new character for him in the upcoming movie, and there's really little sense in him using such an important character to the Batman universe without going all the way.

If this is the last movie then there's nothing to set up for, so Selina Kyle means Catwoman... right?

Still, it's nice to hear someone in the know actually say it.
