Bollywood Star Calls His 'Amazing Spider-Man' Villain Role 'Pivotal'

"The role [in HBO's 'In Treatment'] got me some good reviews there and I think the industry there is aware of my work," said Irrfan Khan in an interview with NDTV (via ComicBookMovie). "Marc [Webb] had seen me and wanted to work with me and approached me for this role. I play one of the villains in the movie. It is a pivotal role.

The name of Khan's character in the film, "Van Atter," has led many Spider-fans to speculate that he could be playing obscure 1990s character Nels Van Adder, who fought Spider-Man after being transformed into a monstrous beast (called "Proto-Goblin") by one of Norman Osborn's early experiments. Others have guessed that Khan will play a supporting role rather than a major villain.

However, if it's indeed a "pivotal" role he'll play in "The Amazing Spider-Man," the rumor mill should certainly pick up some speed again.

In related news, "The Social Network" Oscar nominee Jesse Eisenberg said in an interview that he'd love to work with his Facebook biopic co-star Andrew Garfield again. No quotes about Spidey, but UK outlet Metro reports that Eisenberg said as much in an interview at last night's BAFTA Awards.

If nothing else, Eisenberg's interest could mean we're that much closer to a "Marvel Zombies"-style crossover between "The Amazing Spider-Man" and "Zombieland."

Okay, maybe not...

Who do you think Khan will play? Can you think of any good known Spidey universe roles for Eisenberg? Let us know what you think in the comment section or on Twitter!
