Nick Stahl Joins 'Locke & Key,' FOX Targets Fall Premiere

Fox's developing adaptation of Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodriguez's "Locke & Key" has added a new actor to its cast. According to Deadline, "Carnivàle" actor Nick Stahl has signed on for the co-starring role of Duncan Locke, one of the many faces audiences will encounter on their impending first visit to Lovecraft, Massachusetts next fall.

Based on the IDW Publishing series of the same name, "Locke & Key" centers on Nina Locke and her three children, Tyler, Kinsey and Bode. When Nina's husband Rendell Locke is brutally murdered at the hands of the deeply troubled teenager Sam Lesser, she relocates her family to Rendell's old home in Lovecraft, Massachusetts. They move into Keyhouse, a mysterious manor with mystical doors, keys and an enigmatic entity named Dodge that plans to use the family in order to get what it wants.

Stahl joins the cast as Duncan, Rendell's younger brother and a local art teacher who regularly visits Nina and her children. Miranda Otto previously won the role of Nina Locke, with Sarah Bolger cast as Kinsey. The lead roles of Tyler, Bode, Sam Lesser and Dodge remain to be cast, assuming that producers are following the comic book's lead.

In addition to Stahl's casting, Deadline reports that Fox is hoping to have "Locke & Key" ready for a fall premiere, despite their initial intentions of debuting the show during the summer.

"Originally, we had it on a summer track," Fox entertainment president Kevin Reilly explained. "They just simply couldn't make the dates. We were going to rush it creatively. So we've got it in the hopper now for May, and we'll just figure out where it should be programmed best."
