SECRET IDENTITY: Grading 'The Dark Knight Rises' Actress Contenders

The stars that are supposedly aligning for "The Dark Knight Rises" include Keira Knightley, Anne Hathaway, Charlotte Riley, Jessica Biel and Kate Mara. But which one of them is going to win out? And, just as importantly, which one should land a role in Nolan's final Batman film?

Read on for our impressions of the contenders!

Hathaway's rumored involvement with "The Dark Knight Rises" dates back to a similar report in November.

Back then, we commented that Hathaway would be a great fit in Gotham City as either a villain or Bruce Wayne's new love interest -- and of all the actresses listed in this latest round-up, she remains our favorite.

Like Hathaway, Knightley's attachment isn't a new development. The stunning "Pirates of the Caribbean" actress was first mentioned in the same November report, and while we said we were fine with her casting, she wasn't our first choice.

Same deal applies today: Knightley could be great in Gotham, but she's not our favorite pick for a role.

Biel's beauty is unquestionable, and she's already well-accustomed to comic book fare with her role in "Blade Trinity" and longstanding rumors that she could star in a "Wonder Woman" movie.

She has the ferocity to play Talia al Ghul, but like Knightley, isn't the first actress we would think of for the Nolanverse.

Riley is the least known actress on this list, but perhaps that works to her advantage. With relative obscurity on her side, she brings no public image baggage on her trip to Gotham City.

Her chances aren't hurt by her engagement to "The Dark Knight Rises" actor Tom Hardy, either!

Mara's star is on the rise thanks to bit roles in "Iron Man 2" and "127 Hours," but we've kept tabs on her since her brief but memorable turn in "Brokeback Mountain."

A fantastic actress still looking for her breakout role, Mara's casting could be a great development for "The Dark Knight Rises."
