Has 'Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance' Found Its Villain?

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Ciaran Hinds (pictured) is talks to play the devil in "Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance." The sequel would reportedly find Cage's Johnny Blaze hiding out in Eastern Europe to repress his curse until a sect recruits him to take on the devil himself, who has plans to take over the body of his young mortal son on his birthday.

Hinds is perhaps best known in America for his role as Julius Caesar in the HBO series “Rome.” He also appeared in "Race to Witch Mountain," "There Will Be Blood" and the upcoming "John Carter of Mars" as well as both parts of "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows."

Italian actress and singer Violante Placido is also in negotiations to star as the mother of the devil's child. Placido recently co-starred with George Clooney in "The American" in addition to numerous roles in her native country on film and television.

As reported earlier this year, "Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance" will be filmed in 3-D on location in Romania and Turkey starting in November. "Crank" directors Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor are set to helm the movie and write the script from a story by David Goyer ("The Dark Knight").

"Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance" will be released into theaters on February 17, 2012.
