'Big Bang Theory' Cast Spotted In Superhero Drag, Wil Wheaton to Blame?

Men dressing in superhero drag isn't something you run into very often at comic conventions, but you definitely don’t see it on network television. All of that is about to change come April 12 when the cast of “The Big Bang Theory” get in touch with their feminine side. In a big way.

Big Bang Theory

What events could possibly lead to Howard dressing as Batgirl, Sheldon as an appropriately sized Wonder Woman, Leonard as Supergirl and Raj as a Hallie Berry Catwoman? According to Entertainment Weekly (where the above photo debuted), executive producer Bill Prady isn’t saying — but with the episode titled "The Wheaton Recurrence,” you can bet returning guest-star and archenemy Wil Wheaton (playing himself) has something to do with it.

Speaking of bets, I’d wager the boys’ time in superhero drag is a result of losing one. (Although they look to be enjoying themselves quite a bit. Well, maybe just Raj.) Word is, the episode involves a head-to-head bowling match between Wil and Sheldon. Even though Prady is keeping tight-lipped on the details, he did reveal that "this is not the worst thing that happens to someone in this episode.”

“The Big Bang Theory” is no stranger to comic books and is well known for referencing just about every aspect of geekdom at one time or another. Even author Neil Gaiman has admitted it’s a great teaching tool for his young daughter.

This isn’t the first time actors Jim Parsons, Johnny Galecki, Simon Helberg and Kunal Nayyar have donned costumes on the show, either. They previously dressed as The Flash and recently, Parsons’ Sheldon sported a Star Sapphire t-shirt referencing Geoff Johns’ “Blackest Night” storyline. The crew even made a subtle guest appearance in an issue of “Power Girl.”

Let’s just be thankful they didn’t choose to do her costume.

Which cast member do you think makes the most impressive superheroine? What’s been your favorite reference on the show so far? Let us know what you think in the comment section or on Twitter!
