Brian Bendis Adapting 'Fire' Comic Book For Zac Efron

Deadline Hollywood states that Efron will play the lead role in the adaptation, which follows a college student recruited by the CIA only to find out he's been marked for termination by his employers. The screenplay will come directly from Bendis under producers Neal Moritz and David Engel.

No director is listed yet in the news, but the report states that the "Siege" and "New Avengers" writer closed the deal after shopping "Fire" around to numerous studios and arriving at Universal last Friday. Bendis was beaming after the project became public knowledge, and its sounds like he may have to contend with some jealousy in his household as a result.

"Yes, my daughter knows I know Zac Efron," he wrote on Twitter. "It took some explaining. She thought there was a party going on that she isn't invited to."

Do you think Zac Efron will be a good choice to star in "Fire"? Are there any other original stories from Bendis that you'd like to see made into films? Tell us what you think in the comments section or on Twitter!
