Dreamworks To Delve Into Lost Connection Ads With 'I Saw You' Adaptation

As Variety reported late last week, DreamWorks has purchased Andrea McCloud's romantic comedy pitch based on the OGN for a sum in the mid-six figures.

The original graphic novel anthology, which was released this past February through Three Rivers Press, contained numerous short stories based on missed-connection ads from newspapers and Craigslist posts from around the United States, but its potential cinematic adaptation will reportedly center around a more manageable four intersecting love stories.

In addition to her own comic contribution, Wertz gathered dozens of creators for the anthology including Peter Bagge, Jeffrey Brown, Ken Dahl, Joey Sayers, Tom Hart and Laura Park. It's unknown which creator's specific entries, if any, will factor into the screenplay, but Wertz's reported role as an executive producer on the film could be an indicator of direct creative involvement in the adaptation process.

George Tillman, Bob Teitel and Matthew Prtizker, who optioned the film prior to McCloud's successful pitch, are attached to direct, produce and co-executive produce, respectively. Rene Rigal is slated to co-produce.

Provided Wertz's potential executive producer role moves forward as planned, readers of her autobiographical Fart Party Webcomic may be in for a decidedly different story direction in months to come.
