“Iron Man 2” production designer J. Michael Riva revealed that he's received the first script for the sequel to last year's Marvel Studios blockbuster, and it looks like the famous “Demon in a Bottle” storyline will factor into the plot. Why? Well, according to Riva, the first thing on his "Iron Man 2" to-do list is to create a toilet.
According to a recent interview with Riva on NPR, his "Iron Man 2" script begins with “Tony, in the Iron Man armor, pukes in a toilet.”
“My kids ask me, 'What'd you do today, Dad?'” I designed a toilet!" said Riva.
The landmark "Iron Man" storyline “Demon in a Bottle,” authored by Bob Layton and David Michelinie, involves Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) battling with alcoholism while dealing with the demands of being a superhero. The popular story has been hinted at as a potential "Iron Man 2" plot point by director Jon Favreau and, more recently, in a cryptic response from Downey himself.
This could also mean that the "Iron Man 2" script is headed in Gwyneth Paltrow's direction, but it still begs the question: will Oscar nominee Mickey Rourke be seeing one? And what about Scarlett Johansson?
What do you think about the “Demon in the Bottle” storyline? Should that be the next logical step for the sequel?
