Kanye West's HBO Show: That Much Closer To Reality?

According to online reports, HBO is very eager to find a show for Kanye West. The cable network and the MC have reportedly been eyeing each other since before last fall's writers' strike.

Now it seems they're that much closer to giving him the to-be-named series: An insider told MTV News, "Since it's in development, they are just in talks, and we don't generally comment on that because nothing is set," and added that the show is just a few steps away from getting the green light.

According to reports, the single-camera show would follow Grammy-winning Kanye around in his day-to-day life, both personal and professional. Larry Charles, who executive produces Larry David's show "Curb Your Enthusiasm" (the plot of which is similar to the descriptions of Kanye's show), is linked to the project as well. The big holdup, the report said, is that the team has yet to find a writer.

Kanye has never been at a loss for ways to make headlines. Of course, in 2005, he made a statement heard around the world at a Hurricane Katrina event when he said, "George Bush doesn't care about black people," and his rants are the stuff of legend. Now, he reportedly wants to move into more scripted territory.

He's won a Grammy and he seems to think he can do whatever he puts his mind to -- do you think Kanye has what it takes to win an Emmy?
