Perry Farrell Reveals Lollapalooza's Best Seats In The House

We talked about a lot of things: Will Obama be making a surprise appearance at the festival, as has been the popular rumor? Would Jane's be getting back together this year for an unannounced set? What changes were made to make this year's Lolla better than last year's? You can read all about that here.

There was one thing Farrell told me that I didn't include in my article, and that's where the best seats at Lollapalooza are located. Unfortunately, you will never sit in them, because these seats are reserved for this year's performers. You see, Perry said his one pet peeve about playing festivals has always been not getting to see the other artists perform too.

"So, we've extended the artists' lounge, which traditionally at any festival is backstage, and you basically can't see any group play," he explained. "We've pushed it out from stage left, about 100 feet off the stage and up a small hill. This way, the bands, if they want to, can come out and watch the other groups on the main stage."

These exclusive locales will be fenced off, so unless you know one of the bands, chances are you're going to have to catch all the action with the rest of the general public. But location, location, location isn't the sole reason that this "artists' lounge" is Lolla's primo spot. "We have an open bar for them, and ... basically, your view is kind of like the monitor guy's," Farrell said.

Yet another reminder that life's always better when you're in a band.

If you've got a good view of Lollapalooza, show it off! If you're headed to Chicago for the big show this weekend, we want to hear from you. Share your experiences, stories and pics at YouRHere. Your work could wind up on MTV News.
