Eric finally showed some semblance of being a rational, responsible man. He distanced himself from Lux; identifying with Trey and how he was little more than another older man taking advantage of a young, extremely vulnerable teenage girl. Cate and Baze decided not to press charges as long as Eric resigned and left town.

In the showdown over Lux and Eric’s relationship, Lux revealed to Baze that his girlfriend had an affair with his father. And this was not a one-time late-night-at-the-office rendezvous. Emma and Mr. Basil were together four years! Baze and Emma get together for one last very steamy make-out session before Baze decides he just can't bone his dad's sloppy seconds. That's the curtain call for Shaun Sipos and Emma Caulfield.

Show creator and writer Liz Tigelaar did throw in a few unexpected plot twists (no pun intended). Ryan and Cate lost their baby, Cate got back on the radio airwaves, Jones revealed that he isn't a perfect specimen of Abercrombie and sport skills and Ryan's love Julia made a reappearance.

Then the show fast-forwarded two years later. I think Lux was named valedictorian (pretty shocking)? Either way, she closed the show out with a graduation speech. Personally, nothing will ever top Rory Gilmore’s Chilton address (it’s a seriously good piece of writing), but Lux did her thing. And in the audience were her support system in pairings and pregnancy that left you pausing until the very last moment.

So here it is: Ryan and Julia had their baby and got married. Math married radio producer Alice, who was preggers with their child. Lux and Jones got together. And finally, Cate and Baze coupled for the long-haul…demonstrated by a make-out session that definitely made all the other grads' parents blush.

After all the ridiculous plot lines, drama and intensity, I have to say, I teared up and I am sad to say good-bye. "Life Unexpected," we’ll miss you.
