'Pretty Little Liars' Recap: 'Moments Later'

As we remember from August, Hanna was hit by a speeding car after she thought she figured out who A was. She is rushed to the hospital with a broken leg, broken ankle, bruised ribs and the possibility that her spleen might have to be removed. (Because I know Hanna is so concerned about her weight, I took it upon myself to find out how much a spleen actually weighs—turns out it's less than half a pound. Not exactly a scale-dropping organ if she has to keep it.)

Hanna's mom is pulled over by the police while driving home with the bag of cash she stole from the bank (she amazingly, awkwardly lugs the cash around with her literally throughout the entire show) and the officer tells her that Hanna was in an accident. (Is this town really that small?)

Hanna reigns from her private room in the hospital, entertaining a revolving door of visitors: Sean, who is still her boyfriend although I thought they broke up, the girls obvs, Lucas and Mona. Lucas is too cute, but he freaks Hanna out when he kisses her forehead and tells her that he wants to be more than friends and that she deserves a better boyfriend. Um, please send Lucas my way!

Ali also visits Hanna in a painkiller-induced dream. Full of wisdom and advice, Ali tells Hanna that the four girls remember more than they think they do and that lies are often better than the truth. And also, that she should "do something about A, because that bitch is genuinely getting on my nerves." (One of a dozen incredible lines of the episode.)

Amazingly, Hanna suffered no memory loss. She tells the girls she knows who A is—um, Noel Kahn. (Total let down. I don't buy it.) But he was the one who saw Aria and Ezra getting steamy in the back of Ez's car and cleverly wrote in the dirty mirror, "I see you." I guess he is capable of being pretty creepy now that I think about it…

Aria is forced to confess about her relationship with Ezra to the girls, who are appropriately shocked. When asked if that night in the car was the first time, Aria becomes largely offended. "I didn’t just get into his car last night, who do you think I am?" You see, when you date your teacher, there are standards and the car hook-up is definitely not something you do right away. Lux should take note. But it's Spencer's reaction that basically shows me that she is my TV show soul mate. "Part of me thinks this is just really self-destructive behavior, most of me thinks its just really hot." That’s because it is.

Anyway, Aria and Mr. Fitz argue about the message on his car and engage in the age-old debate: If you could turn back time, would you still make-out with a 16-year-old? Aria’s display of emotional maturity ("You don’t make me unhappy, you just make me miserable sometimes") confirms that they should continue their relationship and Ezra should just get more car washes. Nice try, Noel.

Emily attempts to get a hold of Toby, who is in police custody, and Jenna tells her to stay away from her brother. And it seems like she wants Emily out of the picture because she's trying to put the moves on Toby and be a couple again—did I read that right? She really needs to widen her dating pool. In a quieter, less camp-y moment in the show, Emily tells her dad she is gay. Her parents argue about what to do, and her dad steps up and says that he is just happy she is alive and healthy. Unfortunately, Emily’s mom is not going to let it go that easily.

In the Hasting house, Melissa and Ian elope and come home for some Dom Perrignon. Spencer is clearly rattled by the sudden nuptials and Ian takes a moment to throw some obscure Mainline insult at her regarding her old-fashioned attitude toward champagne. Zing.

The girls are obsessed with finding out who A is, but not much further along. And all the while, she is right under their pretty little noses, signing Hanna’s cast: "Sorry about losing my temper, my bad, A." Those were definitely just chills.
