'Life Unexpected' Recap: 'Thanks Ungiven'

Cate and Baze apparently have the intention of making this a great first Thanksgiving for Lux, but as usual, they become so consumed with their own lives and interests that the plan doesn’t really work out as intended. Cate and Baze merge their dinners into one big meal above the still defunct bar, and everyone manages to get invited to the table including Emma and her son, Cate’s sister, Cate’s mom, and Mr. Daniels. Even Baze’s parents cancel their trip to Aruba to eat with the family. So many people, so many secrets.

After the literal romp in the hay during the camping trip a few weeks back, Cate finds out she’s pregnant. She hopes to keep the news a secret until she and Ryan work out their issues, but with her mom and sister around drinking "breakfast wine" and urging her to tell her husband immediately, the secret doesn’t last long. Cate breaks the news after accidentally taking a sip of wine and immediately spitting it back out all over the turkey. Ryan tries to tell her he wants to move back in and be with her, but Cate has a hard time accepting that. She wants someone to be with her because they want to be with her, not just because of a baby. For once, I can see where she is coming from.

Baze and Emma try to hide their relationship from Baze’s dad, a.k.a their boss, by creating elaborate, unnecessary lies about Lux and Sam dating. This secret also lasts about 10 minutes before Cate’s jealous sister Abby decides to vent to Baze's parents about all the women, including herself, that their son has slept with. Baze’s father gives him an ultimatum: Emma or his job, and Baze manages to turn the choice into not accepting his father. I’m pretty sure this means he is still out of a job though.

Sam decides to use Lux and Eric’s relationship secret to his advantage by blackmailing Lux to have Mr. Daniels give him an A in English. He also uses a photo of Lux and Eric to get a kiss, which seemed a little unnecessary, but whatever. Lux tells Eric that Sam knows and he freaks out (as he should; he’s committing a crime), and Lux decides the solution is to tell Cate everything. I’m really not seeing the logic behind this, and Lux did have a stroke, so maybe she shouldn’t be the one making all the plans. Tasha asks her not to, because she has been lying and beating men with shovels for Lux, but no one cares what Tasha wants.

Lux goes to Cate to confess, but she is interrupted by the police arriving with a warrant for Tasha’s arrest. It’s a cliffhanger ending.

Poor Tasha though. She and "90210" Liam need to runaway together and have a show where nothing bad has to happen to them and there are no Luxs or Lauras and they live happily ever after.
