Notorious serial dater John Mayer is making a new resolution for 2010 (apparently besides not wearing anymore ugly sweaters): he’s taking himself off the market. In an appearance on the "Ellen Degeneres Show," airing today (12/15), John talks about his current views on dating. He admits, “Yeah, I'm a little freaked out about dating. So, I'm just going to let time pass and just do my thing.”

When asked about his past relationships, which have included Jessica Simpson, Jennifer Anniston, and Jennifer Love Hewitt, to name a few, John is candid in his response. "I'm not dating. I don't know if you know this, I have sort of a funny track record. Which is actually not that strange given my age. I'm a little freaked out right now about it, to be honest.”

John’s relationships have played out in the public eye for quite some time now, and he admits that dating celebrities has largely played a role in that. "For some reason who ever I date has been famous for a while. I can't sit here and be like, oh please let me live my life in private with this famous person who's been around for 15 years,” he tells Ellen.

As for his future, John seems clear and level-headed. “I have a good heart; I think I may have gotten lost a couple of times but so does everybody. I'm just going to hunker down, 2010 is a peaceful year for me no matter what I do.” Sounds good to us!
