'Dirty Dancing' To Get Remade & We've Got Casting Ideas (Paging: Channing Tatum & Ashley Tisdale!)

The original, which starred Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey, premiered in 1987 raking in $214 million internationally at the box office. The new script will be penned by ''Uptown Girls" writer Julia Dahl and, as of yet, no roles have been cast. We here at Hollywood Crush love to throw in our two cents when it comes to casting, so here's who we think should slink into leotards and leg warmers for the lead roles of Johnny Castle and Frances "Baby" Houseman.

FOR THE ROLE OF JOHNNY:

Channing Tatum

Sure, the "G.I. Joe" star is the obvious choice, but that's what makes him the best choice! The 29-year-old has already established his Johnny Castle cred donning the dance instructor's signature spandex in a spoof of the film by Cinemash. And do we even have to mention "Step-Up"? We didn't think so.

You probably know Hunter as the pot-dealing son of Nancy Botwin on Showtime's "Weeds," but the 22-year-old is no stoner slacker. In addition to his TV day job and movie roles like "17 Again," Hunter starred in the Broadway production of "Spring Awakening" as German school boy Melchior Gabor. In fact, his theatrical skills almost helped him land the lead in "High School Musical" over Zac Efron. If you're still unconvinced, let us just add that the actor looks mighty fine without a shirt on.

Another Broadway vet, Drew can currently be seen in the Disney musical "The Little Mermaid," in which he plays Prince Eric. Let's be honest, what girl wouldn't want to gaze in to his baby blues while twirling on the dance floor?

FOR THE ROLE OF BABY:

In this movie, the major drama comes from upper class Baby hiding her relationship status with wrong-side-of-the-tracks Johnny (what would her parents think?). So who better than one of Manhattan's elite to portray the hoighty-toighty, wannabe dancer? We can't vouch for her dancing skills, but if Leighton's really serious about a pop-star career, it's high time she got her boogie in check.

After three "High School Musical" movies, Ashley doesn't need to prove her dance skills to us. The question is whether she can dumb down her dancing abilities enough to portray initially uncoordinated Baby. Somehow we think she'll bop to the top.

Alexa Vega

A skilled gymnast, the "Ruby and the Rockits" star will no doubt ace that infamous over-the-head lift. Plus, her girl-next-door looks

make her one of the best physical matches for the shy, sheltered Baby.

Do you think there should even be a "Dirty Dancing" remake? Why or why not? And who would you want to see star as Johnny and Baby?
