At the CFDA Awards tonight where she's currently presenting the Womenswear Designer of the Year award, Lupita Nyong'o did just about the most deserving thing of that honor she could: She went out on a limb in the name of fashion, switching up her usual monochromatic gown game. Lupita completely slayed the red carpet in a splashy Suno jumpsuit.

The coolest part? The visual effect of the multi-stripes makes her look like she’s wearing not one but two pairs of shorts. Leave it to Lupita to one-up Pharrell's red carpet shorts. Usually when starlets take risks this big—er, short—at a swanky event, they downplay the rest of their look with low-key beauty and neutral accessories, but not Lupita! She stayed committed to her maximalist approach, from her sky-high pompadour to her blue eye shadow and rosé Sophia Webster pumps. Now we’re just going to go out on a limb and say that it won’t be long until Lupita is at the receiving end of a CFDA award.
