What To Pack For Coachella

Only a few days left until Coachella! Are you going? And more important, if so, are you ready? If you're anything like us, you don't even start thinking about packing until the very last minute, which can be pretty stressful and often leads to waaay over-packing. If that sounds like you, we're here to help with a little checklist to make sure you're hitting all the style necessities for the California desert.
AT LEAST ONE GOOD PAIR OF SHORTS
Photo: Nasty Gal
You're in the desert. It's hot. That mean, you need at least one good pair of denim shorts. Sky's out, thighs out, nah mean? A pair of j'orts will stand up against all your Indio antics.
+ Shorts: Off the Cuff Denim Short ($52, Nasty Gal)
BREEZY TOPS
Photo: Nordstrom/RVCA
If you're bringing bottoms, you need some tops! Our advice is to either go with crops or roomy, breezy tanks that will keep you cool and ventilated in the California sun.
+ Ruffle Crop Top: Topshop Floral Bralette ($56, Nordstrom)
+ Muscle Tank: RVCA Westsiders Tank ($32, RVCA)
+ Striped Top: Topshop Stripe Crop Top ($36, Nordstrom)
A TOP AND BOTTOM SET

You can even combine the two ideas into one easy-to-wear outfit with a matching crop and shorts set!
+ Matched Set: Tropic Muse Short Set ($65, Pixie Market)
AN EASY DRESS

Also easy to wear? A dress! We suggest something with a simple cut in a fun print, preferably pastel because it's both on-trend and it will reflect more light than dark colors.
+ Dress: Strappy Printed Dress ($36, Zara)
SHOES THAT GO WITH EVERYTHING
Photo: Urban Outfitters
To save room in your suitcase or duffle, try and pack only one pair of shoes. It shouldn't be that hard, you'll be in generally the same place every day, and you'll need a pair that are comfortable enough for the duration. These can be sneakers, but as soon as temperatures rise above 60 degrees, it's near impossible to get me in anything closed-toed. Rather than trying to figure out if your travel wardrobe is mostly blacks or mostly browns, bring shoes in a bright or metallic—they'll go with everything!
+ Sandals: Ecote Devi Caged Sandal ($36, Urban Outfitters)
STATEMENT SHADES

California is sunny. Bring a pair of shades.
+ Sunglasses: Quay Just for the Fun of It Rubber Yellow Sunglasses ($32, Koshka)
BEAUTY ESSENTIALS
Photo: CVS
You'll want to keep your makeup pretty minimal, but with the flashbulbs of street-style photogs popping up all over the valley, you should be prepared for any surprise snaps with some long-lasting makeup. Bonus points if it includes SPF!
+ Liquid Liner: CoverGirl Bombshell Intensity 24 Hour Longwear Liner ($7, CVS)
+ Foundation: CoverGirl & Olay Simply Ageless Foundation ($12, CVS)
+ Lip Gloss: CoverGirl Lipslicks Smoochies Sizzle Gloss ($5, CVS)
A LIGHTWEIGHT JACKET
Photo: Zara
It may be hot during the day, but deserts can get really cold at night. Be prepared with a jacket made of a lightweight material that will be easy to fold away or tie around your waist. Something a bit longer will help keep your legs warm if you're packing mostly cutoffs and minis.
+ Jacket: Lightweight Parka ($119, Zara)
A HANDS-FREE BAG

And finally, you'll need a bag to carry your daily needs—stuff like water bottles, your jacket, a blanket—when you're at the venue. Cross-body bags are nice and hands-free, but a backpack will be big enough to actually hold everything.
+ Backpack: Sacagawea Carryall ($400, Need Supply)
